100 Dutch municipalities do not yet have a Local Inclusion Agenda

2 million Dutch people have a physical or mental disability. In the UN Convention on Disability, the Netherlands has committed itself to making society accessible to people with disabilities. But our country does not yet seem to be very successful in this. Not nearly every place is accessible to people with disabilities, waiting lists in special education are increasing and there is more poverty among people with disabilities. How inclusive is the Netherlands for people with disabilities?

The program POINTER of KRO-NCRV made a report Beperkt Toegang. Very worthwhile.  But it does not make you happy. 100 municipalities in the Netherlands do not yet have a Local Inclusion Agenda, more and more children do not go to special education instead of going to school in their own neighborhood. Minister Arie Slob puts a dot on the horizon in 2035 for inclusive education in the Netherlands …

Fortunately, there are also some bright spots: elementary school the Korenaar in Eindhoven is an inclusive school. And Yara and Merijn, two Speeltuinbendel members have grown up again and are fighting together with their parents.
