Playground the Leuke Linde in the district Klarendal, Arnhem is a busy playground. The playground is run by volunteers and one paid employee. Every year the Leuke Linde organizes more than 100 activities!
The playground is reasonably accessible. Visitors with a disability can enter the playground and go to the toilet. Playing along is a different story, visitors in wheelchairs can hardly reach the playground equipment, there is no clear routing and a lot of the equipment is focused on climbing and scrambling. The playground wants to change this. De Leuke Linde wants to become a playground where everyone can come, meet each other, participate in activities and especially play together. The Leuke Linde has a huge network and works together with the Stichting Bijzonder in Arnhem, the municipality, Arnhem Sport etc. De Leuke Linde has asked Empowerment by Playing to conduct a SamenSpeelScan. On December 15 2021 the time had come. The scan was attended by people from the playground, Bijzonder in Arnhem, APCG and SamenSpeelNetwerk.
A SamenSpeelScan/Inclusive play scan by Ilse is a scan and a workshop on playing together in one.
In two hours time Ilse guided the group through the playground and discussed all five points of interest of Inclusive Play / Samenspelen (organization / playing culture / facilities / infrastructure / playground equipment and playing accessories) while walking.
The playground has started working with the results of the scan. Together with their partners they are tackling this very energetically. The Municipality of Arnhem embraces the plans. The renovation will start in 2022. Ilse has been asked to be involved in the proces as advisor/coach.
