SpelenMaaR presents: Training how to tie play climbing constructions!

Do you work with children and would you like to learn how to create exciting play leads with ropes yourself? Then this SpelenMaaR basic training is for you!

In the training you will learn how to tie play climbing constructions like suspension bridges and swings without damaging trees. You will also gain initial experience in safely stimulating and guiding play for all children, including those with disabilities.

The basic training is for anyone who works with children, professional or volunteer: in education, sports clubs, scouting, playground, shelter or sports neighborhood work.

Trainer: Anneke Rodenburg of Tuin en Vlinder en Forest Kids

Assistant trainers: Ilse van der Put (SpelenMaaR/Empowerment by Playing), Franziska Nath (SpelenMaaR/Creatiefhuis)

Location: Art exhibition Beelden op de Berg in the beautiful Belmonte Arboretum in Wageningen.

Dates: August 14 and 15 10.00 – 12.30h + lunch

Cost: €30-€60

Program:

Wednesday, August 14: 10.00 – 12.30 lunch.

Introduction and practical work. Under the guidance of Anneke we knot different climbing constructions. After lunch the constructions are open for children and there is the possibility for trainees to participate in guiding the climbing (it is not necessary, trainees can also explore the exhibition Beelden op de berg: heksenkruid – decolonizing botany ). Children who come to climb do so as part of the Wageningen KinderCultuurZomer.

Thursday, August 15: 10.00 – 12.30 lunch

The climbing constructions are open to children all day as part of the KinderCultuurZomer

While the children play, Anneke further explains the art of knots and addresses questions from the students. Which knots do you use? How do you take care of the trees and the safety of the children? How does playing with ropes help children’s development? Where and when can you apply these techniques?

After the training you will know the basics and be able to work with the ropes independently. The material (ropes, swings, hammocks) can be borrowed from Playground Tuindorp.
